Trip Profile: Laos cycling tours are the most popular cycling holidays. Laos is a beautiful, quiet country, still relatively untouched by western values. It is mountainous and land-locked, with a population of just 6 million who have a reputation for being amongst the most welcoming and friendly people in the world. The cycling holiday in Laos offers spectacular scenery and a rich and diverse cultural experience. What better way could there be to see Laos than the view from a bicycle? Our cycling holiday begins in the historic city of Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ancient, royal city full of exquisite Buddhist Temples, where time seems to stand still, is a magical place to explore and relax. Cycling north out into the mountains towards Oudomxay we visit a Hmong village school which Vietnam Adventure Cycling supported the local comuminity for many time. From here it’s on to Leua village where we will be treated to a traditional Laos homestay amongst the community. This part of the Laos bicycle tour will give you an insight into the traditional way of life and work, weaving and cotton-producing and the culture of the Tai Lue people. Our cycle trip continues to the Mekong river for a boat journey through glorious scenery back into Luang Prabang. From here you will enjoy some of the most breathtaking scenery in Asia, mountain biking towards Southern Laos. We travel through a rural landscape to Vang Vieng. We enter a landscape of stunning limestone karst formations as our journey continues on via rolling hills to Vientiane, the Capital of Laos,Situated on the banks of the Mekong river, Vientiane has a relaxed, elegant charm. After Vang Vieng We will have the domestic flight to Pakse where we get on the bike and cycle to 4 thousand island, a laidback, sleepy, charming little gem of a place nestled at the foot of Laos on the Cambodian border, and as the name suggests, consists of lots of tiny islands scattered in the vast Mekong Delta. Back to Pakse where the Laos mountain bike holiday finally ends.
